Weighing in on GONE GIRL…

Have you guys heard of a book called Gone Girl? Kidding. This book is the literary tumblr equivalent of top-knots, ombre hair, or chevron anything. But I have actually found that a lot of non-tumblr friends still haven’t heard of it. And that’s a damn shame so I thought it was worth posting about.
I had heard it’s an epic book with a shitty last 50 pages. I so disagree. I kind of love the ending. The book is fantastic. Truly a great read.
I also have some inside scoop. DO NOT READ ON IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOK. TRUST!
A coworker actually knows Gillian Flynn and her longterm ex-boyfriend. Rumor has it, homegirl went CRAZY on him at the end. Like, ruin your life kind of crazy. It makes so much sense. She IS Amy. Which all sorts of brills.
I loved the book because I sat there thinking I get Amy, which in turn made me wonder if I was a sociopath. I’ve discussed this troubling thought with enough friends, and the general consensus is—phew—I am (we are) not. Flynn is just that good at tapping into female mind. We’ve all tried to be the “cool girl.” We have all wanted to make a man pay for wronging us. The difference is I don’t have the desire to fake my murder, frame one man, and kill another, but ya know, that’s why Amy is a (somewhat) fictional character. This book is so much more than a thriller. It’s a train ride into crazytown, and I can’t wait for the movie. Reese Witherspoon and Bradley Cooper anyone?

Totally agree on the “cool girl” point. And my book club agrees that Reese = Amy.
